There is Hope...
God makes the way
Where do you feel unseen? What feels too big for you? What seems to be stopping your plans? Where have you lost hope?
The Hebrew word for hope is tiqva, which can also be translated as rope. Stick with me as I dive into science for a sec—a key element that science declares we need to have hope is “a way forward.” Jesus gives you and me this way forward! He tosses His almighty rope of hope out to us and says, “Grab on! I’ll pull you up! I’ll pull you out! I’ll pull you forward!” We just need to grab on.
Gloria Umanah, founder of the Hope Booth, and I talk all about hope on this week’s episode of the This is Your Nudge podcast.
One of the most poignant moments in our conversation was when Gloria said, “If it’s bigger than you, it’s perfect for God!” I might make that my new motto. What’s too big for you right now? Well, it’s perfect for God!
As we navigate our paths, let’s remember that hope is not just a feeling but an action. It requires us to take hold of the “rope” that God extends to us, trusting that He will guide us through even the most challenging terrains. We can all pray, “Jesus, this is too big for me, but I’m grabbing onto your rope. I trust that you’ll pull me where I need to go.”

Not only does God give us hope, but He empowers us to instill hope in one another. Whether it’s through simply looking someone in the eye, putting our phone down and really listening, making time for someone who reaches out, or without being asked taking in a neighbor’s garbage can, volunteering to drive someone else’s kid to practice, or praying for a stranger. We all have the ability to be beacons of hope in our communities.
I encourage you to listen to this episode to remember you are uniquely loved by the Lord. No matter how dark things may seem today, there is HOPE. His name is Jesus. And He loves you so much. Tomorrow can be brighter and better. You matter. You make a difference. And you are equipped to make a difference. Let’s bravely seize the rope of hope today and every day.
